OJM: Heavy www.amazon.com [Good news from the Italian stoner scene! The debut full length album by OJM is now out and it's really a fresh and amazing surprise! The nine tracks here included sound original and... heavy, as the title suggest. The album starts with a 100% stoner track as The Sleeper, where the guitar and the rhythm section are a powerful demolishing machine, supporting in the perfect way the voice of David. Revelations it's another killer track, that sounds like an heavier version of the Queens Of The Stone Age and is followed by the hallucinating stoner-doom of You Come, one of my favourites songs. The fourth track is one of the best stooges covers ever; they have captured all the heavy vibrations of a live show. Here the singer it's very near to the Iggy Pop raw vocals, but the whole song is played with great personality, with the addiction of some cool guitar solos. Mix Up! It's just a wonderful heavy psych instrumental that leads to the most melodic song of! the album: As I Know it's a kind of distorted ballad and it's probably the most accessible song for the non-stoner listeners. Strange Dreams features in its initial assault the rhythm section by Max and Mat, that launch the song in a raw and heavy rock n' roll, that, after a strange break, became another slow doom episode.
